FIDDLE CLASSICS
FROM THE VAULTS OF COUNTY RECORDS
& OLD BLUE RECORDS
   OLD BLUE CD-709
Various Artists

Fiddle ClassicsThese fiddle tunes come from Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, New England (French Canadian), Texas, Missouri, and Kentucky. The fiddlers are masters of their art and each recording can be considered a classic. The 23 tracks from the vaults of County Records were recorded almost 50 years ago – that’s about two generations.. To put that in perspective, County Records’ first LP (in the early 1960s) was a release of mountain fiddle music originally recorded 30 years of so before – a few years more than one generation. Incidentally, one of the tracks on that County LP - Ragtime Annie - was a track by Vernon’s and Normon’s father, Ervin Solomon. The remaining tracks, recorded within the last three years, come from the vaults of Old Blue Records, tracks that show how much younger generations respect their forebears.

Given the plethora of recorded music on the Internet, many might say, “Oh, I’ve heard that tune before.” And that’s true. But these recordings offer something more… it is these musicians who, with their powerful, imaginative fiddling, have made these tunes classics.
