Three Generations of Champion Texas Fiddlers

The great fiddle music on this CD comes from the hands, heads and hearts of revered Texas fiddlers Ervin Solomon, his brother Jim, his sons Vernon and Norman, and his grandson Mike (Vernon's son)—three generations of one family of truly outstanding Texas-style fiddlers.

Ervin Solomon and his sons Norman and Vernon have been elected to the Texas Old-Time Fiddlers Hall of Fame. Norman won 20 Texas contest in a row, and Vernon took home the first-place trophy at the first Grandmasters Fiddle Contest held in Nashville in 1972.

The music here is not confined to contest fiddling; the selections include pieces found outside competition, such as The Texas Social Medley jam that Norman and Vernon might play at a Texas musical or during breaks at a contest. Some of the tunes, such as Sugar Roll and Pepper Tea, have not been previously released.
